Missing Peace Art Space

Missing Peace Art Space www.missingpeaceart.org Often a "truth" may be only as true as the moment or place that it is experienced in.

The Missing Peace Art Space
is a non profit organization operating under the 501c3 organizational structure of the Unitarian Fellowship for World Peace . The mission of the Missing Peace Art Space is to provide an artistic forum for exploring issues of peace and violence in a tolerant, non-commercial environment. In the world's current polarized environment it is important to recognize that the c

oncepts of "truth" and "being right" can be ideas that drive us apart. Art is an excellent medium for allowing us to experience that moment. Open Sat & Sun 2-7pm during scheduled shows see website for details.

"History reminds us that art has always frightened the powerful. Uncle Tom’s Cabin was banned in the South because it forced them to confront slavery. Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle was smeared by industrialists for revealing the cruelty of unregulated capitalism. Protest music of the 1960s and artists like Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger were condemned as “unpatriotic” by the same crowd that called Dr. King a radical. "

Conservatives call Anderson’s film “irresponsible” because it dares to show what happens when power turns its guns on the powerless...

The Missing Peace Art Space online gallery is now featuring Mary Perry Stone, "Art Makes Us Human".
Mary Perry Stone (1909- 2007) was a painter and woman sculptor on the WPA (in New York City) and never stopped being 'Left'. Most of her work remained social-protest and she left more than 50 large social-protest murals and many social protest paintings during her long life as an artist. According to her daughter, she was not commercial, nor a Sunday painter, but a wonderful, kind person who loved art and hated war and what she would have called the horrors of Capitalism.
Mary believed strongly that art was what made us human and hoped someday that art would be more revered.
