🎨 A glimpse into the paintings that sparked a passion for preserving Florida’s story…
The inspiration for what would become the world’s largest collection of Florida art began with just two watercolor paintings of the Old City Gates in St. Augustine. These beautifully detailed 19th century works became early favorites of collectors Cici and Hyatt Brown and helped shape a vision dedicated to preserving Florida’s landscapes, places, and history through art.
Today, the collection includes more than 600 views of St. Augustine spanning 150 years of the city’s history, including these featured works:
🖼 St. Augustine, City Gate (1839), by artist identified only as Chapin
🖼 Old City Gates, St. Augustine (ca. 1880), by T.A. Voegtlin
