The origin of Thief Neck Island. This is from the TVA removal records. Originally, it was called Thief Neck Bend and the highest point created Thief Neck Island when Watts Bar Dam was built.

Miss Ruth and Miss Dorothy Ashley together taught a total of ninety-two years in the Meigs County Schools. Miss Ruth began her teaching at the Big Springs School in 1928 and then transferred to Meigs Consolidated in 1950. Miss Dorothy began teaching at Eastview School in 1935 and transferred to the Meigs Consolidated School in 1947. Both taught there until their retirement.
