In total we have over 60 hands-on exhibits & activities that simulate real-world scenarios, connecting children with familiar experiences and contexts designed to encourage healthy habits and critical thinking. Put another way: kids play to learn and learn to play!
..also, we have an actual sheriff's helicopter and firetruck permanently parked outside for exploration and play, as well as a real police cruiser inside!

Last week's summer camp theme was A Farmer's Toolbox. We learned all about the tools farmers use from giant tractors to tiny bells and everything in between.

Huge thank you to Lance and Mat from Muirheid Farms for bringing their awesome tractor to camp! Not only did they share great information and show off come corn, soy beans, and wheat from their farm, but they let each camper take a turn in the tractor, too!

We're partnering with Greater St. Louis Area Scouting - Central Illinois to bring one more camp to the museum this summer!

Join us for the Twilight STEM Camp! This exciting partnership between CMofIL and Scouting gives kids entering 3rd - 5th grade the chance to build, code, create, and explore. We'll be focusing on hands-on activities including Ozobots, Zumi cars, 3D printing, laser engraving, and Snap Circuits.

Twilight STEM Camp will be held at the museum from 5:30 - 8:30 pm Monday, July 13th through Friday, July 17th. Registration costs $150 per child and includes a snack each evening.

Join us for Toddler Time tomorrow at 10 am!

Toddler Time is designed for ages 3 - 5, but all are welcome. We spend about 45 minutes reading books, playing games, doing crafts, and socializing. It's a great way to connect with other caregivers and your little one!

Price is included in museum admission.

Our weekly summer camps started last week! Our preschoolers and K-2ers had a blast learning all about agriculture with our first day: field to table.

We read books, made our own butter, tasted and painted with fruits and veggies, created our own lemonade stands, and made lemonade!

You may have seen it in the news! We're partnering with Children's Museum of Illinois to build a Teaching Kitchen 🍳

The Teaching Kitchen will provide hands-on experiences focused on culinary skills, nutrition, science, and career exploration while introducing children and families to educational and workforce pathways through interactive learning opportunities.

Construction of the Teaching Kitchen will continue throughout summer 2026, with the space expected to open to the public in late September.
