Saturday, April 25th, following the dedication ceremony for the historic marker, the Fort Delaware Society will be open to the public. Feel free to visit between 11a - 2p and browse our research library or view our artifacts.

Our office manager will be on site and can accept your application to join our ranks as a Fort Delaware Society Member.

Our address is: 2711 Staff Ln, Delaware City, DE 19706 located in historic Fort Dupont, about 5 minutes away from Battery Park.

Special Day for Fort Delaware
As Delaware and the nation mark our 250th anniversary, our namesake Delaware City is marking its own bicentennial and the 75th anniversary of Fort Delaware State Park and the Delaware State Parks system. A new Delaware State Historical Marker will be unveiled in a 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Saturday, April 25, at Delaware City’s Battery Park, recognizing Fort Delaware on nearby Peapatch Island. That event starts the weekend’s Fort Fest, begins the fort visitor season and kicks off 75th anniversary events. Battery Park will have a reenactor encampment, kids’ infantry drill and Victorian games, while the island fort, a ferry ride away, hosts Civil War life activities.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Fort Delaware State Park, as well as Delaware State Parks as a whole. Come celebrate with us on April 25 with "Fort Fest!" Our day's activities will include a historic marker dedication, reenactor encampment at Battery Park in Delaware City, a kids infantry drill, Victorian games in front of our ticket office, and our Civil War life activities on Pea Patch Island.
