Our next show will feature two talented artists and have a jazz theme, as is fitting since it will coincide with JazzFest. Our artists are pen and ink artist Jonathan Glass, a long time chronicler of the Delaware Water Gap Jazz scene, and photographer Jon Broady, who is a regular fixture at the Deerhead, photographing and videotaping the musicians.
First a bit about Mr. Glass and we'll post about Mr. Broady in a subsequent post. From the artist:
"Jonathan Glass has been a fixture in the New York City jazz clubs for nearly three decades. Pen and Ink in hand, he uses vigorous lines to portray a jazz show as it unfolds, capturing the rhythmic energy of the music as well as the distinctive persona of each performer.
This exhibition presents works, dating from 2010 to 2022, from the vast trove of drawings from festivals in the
Delaware Water Gap, NYC, Saratoga Springs, and Newport. Some depict widely known figures, while others
represent musicians revered amongst circles of passionate followers like Glass, who attends multiple shows
each week. Glass concentrates his energy for summer festivals when they kick into high gear during the
summer.
He has been attending shows at the Deer Head Inn and the COTA, (Celebration of the Arts), festival for over
15 years. The Delaware Water Gap has been a second home to Jonathan and he has captured the vibe of
many talented players, including Phil Woods, Jerry Harris, Bob Dorough, Nancy and Spencer Reed, and Dave
Liebman, among others."
