This year’s parade….

The museum helped sponsor the town’s susquecentennial and we worked with the fire co for the parade.
We tried to encourage groups and businesses to enter or do floats. I heard some comment that they didn’t want to participate as they wanted to sit on their porch and watch it. My answer was if we don’t have many great entries and floats, it won’t be a great parade.
This is a big event and I know that Dr. Amy, the fair committee and the fire co are hoping for a great fair and parade.. That year we didn’t enter but museum volunteers put a crazy truck float in at the end.. not sure we are up to it this year but please consider participating in entering and do your best to help us have a great week and great parade. None of us will be here for the next 250th.
Also try to decorate if possible. Put flags out. I’ve noticed that the new poles might not have flag holders.

A few are going to try to do a time capsule so keep your eye out on social media to learn more about that.

Today the museum has a patriotic display on the large felt board and many books and magazines on our big table. These all relate to America 250.
One volunteer is doing the timeline for
“ Going back in time, from 2026 back to before the Revolutionary War” It will be on display for this year’s festival on Sat., Oct 10.
Visiting the museum is from 1:30-4. No admission but donations are appreciated.
Volunteers are still busy making crafts so we may have a festival workshop around.

Notice the rail in front of the Slate blocks. Transportation by train allowed for more tonage of Slate to be sold. Before the railroad, Slate was taken to the river on wagons and put on canal boats.
