It's with a heavy heart that we share the news that Bob Scharfenstein recently passed away. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

We take comfort imagining Bob and Bill Mason together again, at one of heaven's many art auctions, doing what they loved most. We're grateful for their generosity, and their spirit and name live on through the museum they helped build. We like to think they'll still stop by and visit, right here on their bench.

Image description: Artist Jan Jander shaped this "benchscape" around Bob and Bill themselves, sitting in wet concrete. Their physical impressions remain with us in the bench. They face "Windsor Castle from Datchet Meade," a favorite Edward Moran painting from their collection at the museum.
