Does anyone recognize where or when this picture was taken, sent to us by Rick Green? He believes his mother Marion Townshend is on the left, brother Melvin is in the middle, and little sister Jenny is on the right. He says "Jeanie [Jenny] sent the pic to my mom who is Marion Townsend's oldest daughter Alma and she sent me the picture."

Ed Browne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, in his 102nd year. This adopted son of Dennsyville was born in New York City in 1919, on June 25, living on Columbus Circle. While serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World II, he was taken prisoner when his B-17 was shot down over Germany in May 1944, and became a POW at Stalag Luft IV. He lost his first wife Ruby to cancer, and is survived by their son Vann, in Seattle. With his second wife, Margaret, he came to live in Eastport in the 1980's, later moving to Pembroke and Dennsyville. Ed was loved and respected by all as a courteous, generous and thoughtful old school gentleman. A service will be held later this year at a date to be determined, with burial in the Acadia National Cemetery in Jonesboro. Ed was pleased to have served his country, but even more to have served his Lord. We are glad to have known him.

Did you know that on Sunday, December 7, 1941, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt were entertaining FDR's first cousins at the White House when the news broke of the attack on Pearl Harbor? In this page from the White House Usher's log, notice how their visit was eclipsed by the arrival of senior diplomats and cabinet officers. Ellen (Delano) and Fred Adams's owned a summer cottage on Campobello Island near the Roosevelts; their son, Fred Jr. had been appointed by FDR as his "Bibliographer in Chief', while his young sister Laura was teaching Fala to roll over on that fateful weekend at the White House.
