🍫 Not just for broken hearts, chocolate has a long history of being used medicinally!

Our favorite is the belief chocolate could help cure cavities, lol 🦷

In honor of PBS’s release of , 🎭 we wanted to share one of our favorite food and suffrage stories!

🥧 Recipes like “Pie for a Suffragist’s Doubting Husband” and “Anti’s Favorite Hash” drew attention to common objections to women’s suffrage and highlighted causes that women’s associations identified as important to other women.

✊🏾 "What difference can one person make?"

Recently, I've been reflecting on this question. It is so easy to look to the leaders. To say "why isn't anyone doing anything?" 🛟 To wait for someone to save us.

Because it is daunting to try and change the world.

But then I remembered one of my favorite stories from history. The story of Georgia Gilmore and The Club From Nowhere. A group of average people who worked in the shadows and funded the Montgomery Bus Boycott. 🪧 🚌

Using the tools she had at her disposal, Georgia Gilmore organized people in her community to make and sell food. 🥧

🚙 The proceeds went to support a carpool network, allowing citizens to participate in the boycott (and still make it to work). They paid for drivers, car insurance, repairs, everything!

The efforts of the Club allowed the boycott to last for more than a year. And they raised between $45,000 - 76,000! 💰

Georgia Gilmore's story always reminds me that there are endless ways to support causes that you believe in. Just look to your skills and your community. 💪

☪️ Happy Arab American Heritage month!

Here's one of our favorite food stories and it's all about baba ganoush.

While the origins of Baba Ganoush are unknown, Arabic folklore tells the story of a devoted daughter who cooked for her father. The father was elderly and had no teeth, so he had trouble eating the food his daughter prepared. So the daughter dutifully mashed each dish she cooked before she served it to her father. One of the dishes was roasted eggplant mixed with olive oil, lemon juice, and tahini. This dish came to be known as baba ganoush, which translates into “pampered papa”.

I'm so excited to share what we're planning with you ☺️

For far too long, kids have had the upper hand when it comes to exploring cool historical and cultural sites. 🎒 We're here to even the score with FIELD TRIPS for adults!

After five years of working towards a space** (and a fair number of ups and downs), we decided... why wait? Why not turn the city into a museum!

Whether that's discovering how a favorite treat is made, learning about the hidden food histories of Denver, or exploring how people are *already* remaking the food system to be something more equitable and sustainable.

With the 🗑🔥 that is the news, and the joy that the Artemis II mission brought us, it's clear that now more than ever, we need to reasons to marvel.
Marvel at how a tropical fruit can transform into chocolate truffles.
At how astronomers eat their favorite foods in space.
At how dumplings carry the story of us all.

Want to snag a spot for the first Field Trip? Be the first to hear about it by signing up for our newsletter @ link in bio.

**And don't worry, we are still working to a space!
