On January 22, 2026, our newest exhibition opens! Illuminations and Ruminations: Photographs and Other Works by Albert Chong is a collection of Chong’s work since he moved to Colorado from New York in 1991, all the way to the present day. While his body of work largely revolves around photographs, Chong does not strictly limit his artistic process to one medium. This exhibition also includes photomosaics, sculptures and installation works. Throughout the works included in Illuminations and Ruminations, Chong relies on recurring motifs as a way of preserving and remembering the spirit of ancestors, loved ones and strangers alike.

Join us from 5:00-8:00 pm on January 22 for the opening reception. Illuminations and Ruminations will be on view through March 18, 2026.

Starting today, we’ll highlight artists in our Made in Colorado exhibition, on view through September 12. Today, we’re focusing on and his painting, The Rocky Trail.

“A landscape created out of elements of the Front Range where I live now and the Western Slope where I grew up. The pathway links the two distant locations, I picture Tom, my older brother and part-time hermit, living on his remote, nearly inaccessible patch of land on the most distant, small hazy peak. I paint landscape as caricature and collage to capture what the camera can’t: the feelings, vistas (both near and far), inspiration and memories of what you see and experience throughout the whole day along the trail, not in just a single Kodak moment. In that way, the artwork can better recreate the sensual impact of being immersed in the outdoors.”
