CEA Contemporary Expressions of Art

CEA Contemporary Expressions of Art CEA is focused on presenting contemporary artists from Latino America to the Colorado community.

Contemporary Expressions of Art • CEA was formed with the mission to bring to the Colorado community, established and emergent, contemporary artists from Latin American countries. CEA brings a wealth of knowledge in the contemporary world of Latin American art from its founders – Evelyn Pener, Carlos Martinez and Dalia Dorta. In the current cultural context propitiated by progressive democracies

in Latin America, art expressions have been forced to evaluate its local, as well as regional and global narrative. This trend has been characterized by the deconstruction of the traditional logic of narrative of local artistic phenomenon, and the creation or rescue of perspectives that can project the new historic reality. What make it even more interesting is the levels of autonomy and productivity reached by these expressions and how they intuitively gather around a unique Latino American horizon.

WILLOW WOMEN:
Embodied Threads: Weaving the Kumeyaay Legacy

Through the Documentary Film and weaving objects. Embark on a sensory exploration that transcends time and space, weaving together stories of resilience, creativity, and community.

Let the voices of the land and the hands of the weavers guide you in a celebration of cultural continuity and shared reverence for the environment.
As we gather in this space of creativity and reflection, we invite you to engage with the legacy of the Willow Women and immerse yourself in the beauty of Kumeyaay community.
Together, let us honor the past, celebrate the present, and weave a brighter future for generations to come.
Join us as we unite in the spirit of community, art, and nature - weaving a tapestry of collective understanding and appreciation for the profound legacy of the Kumeyaay people.

This project is created by Two Cardinal Points, an art collective by Ariel Vargassal and Steven Mason, a multifaceted art collective dedicated to crafting and showcasing unique, thought-provoking works of art

It was Two Cardinal Points Art Collective’s mission to encapsulate this vibrant heritage using a diverse array of artistic expressions, bridging the past and present with a juxtaposition of traditional elements and contemporary materials.
Through this harmonious fusion, they aim to transport the viewer into the captivating world of the Kumeyaay, offering a glimpse into their extraordinary culture. Within the enchanting exhibit of “Sawiles,” they invite the community to kindle the same sense of curiosity and wonder that ignited their spirits as they transported to the depths of the weaving tradition.
Let the intricate visual metaphors created by collaboration beckon you to unravel the stories woven within the fabric of this remarkable culture.
