Deposit Historical Society A non profit organization that preserves, promotes and researches the history of the Deposit, NY community.

The Deposit Historical Society maintains a museum with exhibits of area artifacts and period pieces. There are regularly scheduled events and educational opportunities. We are located in the village of Deposit, NY, just off route 17 in the Catskill Mountains. Our Museum is open to the public from 2 — 4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day weekend until mid-October. Admission to the Deposi

Ever wonder what is being done to bring back The American Chestnut Tree?

The tree's demise started with something called ink disease in the early 1800s, which steadily killed chestnut in the southern portion of its range. The final blow happened at the turn of the 20th century when a disease called chestnut blight swept through Eastern forests.
