Presented by , the exhibition introduces an entirely new body of work exploring masculinity and representations of the Black male body.⁠

“The representation of masculinity spoke to me more, and using the Black male body as a vehicle, as a conduit to express those ideas that are resonant and paralleled to my concepts that I’m already working within with the female body,” said Mickalene Thomas.

Step onto the grounds of the Shepherd and discover 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙋𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙮𝙢𝙪𝙨 𝘽𝙤𝙨𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 by , on view at one of the art altars.

Created while working in-residence at , Hocking constructed 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙋𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙮𝙢𝙪𝙨 𝘽𝙤𝙨𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 entirely from steel sailboat stands and maritime artifacts salvaged onsite in 2025.

This sculpture was informed by "The Garden of Earthly Delights" (1490-1510), a grand panoramic triptych painted by Dutch artist Hieronymus Bosch.
