Clement’s legacy, and preserves the rich heritage of Tennessee through engaging exhibits State Historic Site. Tours. Venue Rental. Membership. Community Center. All at the heart of Dickson. The Hotel Halbrook, the home of the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum, was constructed in 1913 and is one of the few remaining examples of a railroad hotel in a small Tennessee town. It functioned as a hotel until

1954. On June 9, 2009, it opened to the public once again and became officially known as the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum, under the Tennessee Historical Commission. The Museum explores the history and heritage of Dickson County, the Western Highland Rim, and the State of Tennessee through exhibits and collections relating to the railroad, iron ore industry, commerce, the Civil War, settlement, and the accomplishments of Tennessee Governor Frank G. Clement. The Museum is fortunate to have many artifacts and items that once belonged to Governor Clement and his family. Museum visitors can see the rooms where the Clements' lived while managing the Hotel Halbrook as well as exhibits featuring Governor Clement's early years, campaigns, and accomplishments. Here at the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum, we educate and provide events for the community, give tours throughout the museum, provide membership to visitors, offer venue rental and are a visitor center right at the heart of Dickson. This project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Tennessee Historical Commission.

Happy 230th birthday, Tennessee!

The Tennessee State Capitol Building was constructed from 1845-1859. Noted architect William Strickland, who designed the capitol, would pass away in 1854 before the project was completed. Strickland is interred within the walls of his final and arguably greatest work.

On November 11, 1971, the Tennessee State Capitol Building was designated a National Historic Landmark as a fine example of Greek Revival architecture. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on July 8, 1970.

We were very excited to welcome a fantastic crowd to the Museum as guest learned more about the life, legacy, and impact of one of Middle Tennessee’s most influential early industrialists, Montgomery Bell. # #

Author John P. Williams delivered a fascinating presentation that gave visitors a deeper understanding of Tennessee’s early frontier economy and iron industry.

We are also grateful that Mr. Williams provided the museum gift shop with an ample supply of signed copies of his book, which are available for purchase while supplies last. Be sure to stop by and pick up your signed copy!

Thank you again to everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon such a success.

This past week marked the end of our 2026 5th Grade Filed Trips to the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum - Hotel Halbrook State Historic Site, and what an incredible few weeks it has been!

We were honored to welcome students from across Dickson County to explore local, state, and national history right here at the birthplace of Governor Frank G. Clement.

During their visit, students toured the museum, created their own craft journals to take home, and learned about the history and meaning of the American flag through a special presentation by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

A very special thank you goes to the Jackson Foundation, the Community Foundation of Dickson County, and especially Tennessee America 250 for sponsoring and helping fund these educational programs. The support of these organizations made it possible for hundreds of students to experience hands-on history and meaningful educational programming.

We are deeply grateful to our teachers, volunteers, partners, and students for making this program such a success.
