Artist Statement: "When John Slot sent me this photo, with encouragement to use it for an art quilt, I was hesitant. I knew it would be a challenge, with the amount of detail in the rocks and clouds and river, but the Grand Canyon is amazing! It is now one of my favorite pieces. It was raw-edge fused with hand-dyed and commercial batik fabrics, with small amounts of mixed media added."

Can't you imagine walking down this country lane? This is the work of textile and embroidery artist Rachel Wright.

Rachel is known for her depiction of expressive skies. She takes her inspiration from landscapes and cityscapes and she has a particular love of the sea, harbour towns, boats and lighthouses.

Having just sifted through an amazing quantity of old linens and lace that I was gifted with by several generations of my family, I looked at this post today and thought about what this ridiculous collection might convey to my grandchildren. I realized that starched and ironed and stored away under my guest room bed they were mute.

We are having fun at James Gang Art Works with a new technique and lots of R and D. We've also finished a number of new pieces that are available through Tendoy Fine Art. And we have pieces in progress. Life is feeling good!
