This morning's Toddler Hour was such a sweet start to the day. Our littlest museum guests, ages 15 months to 4 years, joined Instructor Alexandria Turner for a book reading and hands-on gallery exploration before the museum opened its doors to the public. Scavenger hunts, curious eyes, and big imaginations filled the galleries, and we loved every moment of it.

Toddler Hour is free and happens every 4th Thursday of the month, 9–10am. We'd love to see your family next time.

If your teen has been sketching in notebooks and filling up sketchbooks, it's time to give those instincts somewhere to grow.

WMA's Drawing 200: Expanding Techniques summer camp is designed for teens ages 13–17 who are ready to move beyond the basics and start working like the artists they're becoming. Instructor Thomas Colvin breaks drawing down in a way that makes even the most intimidating techniques feel approachable, building on what students already know while introducing the concepts professional artists actually use. One week. Five mornings. Real skills.

June 1–5 | 9am–12pm
Ages 13–17
$55 for members | $65 for not-yet members
Spots are limited, so don't wait.

Register today at https://www.wiregrassmuseum.org/happenings/drawing-200/ or stop by the museum for more information.

Studio 126 | Year-End Wrap-Up

What a year it's been. Studio 126 is closing out another incredible season, and we are so proud of every teen who showed up, created, and made this space their own. This year, our students accomplished some truly meaningful things together. They submitted work for Youth Art Month, painted a mural in the education gallery, prepared and framed pieces for the art show, and built friendships that made the studio feel like home.

But the most powerful thing? Hearing what it meant to them in their own words:

"It's a place where when I didn't feel like myself, I could come here and be at peace. Studio 126 inspired me to keep pursuing art even when it felt hopeless."

"It shows me that what I like isn't bad, weird, or stupid. It means I can be ME!"

"I love Studio 126 because I was able to socialize and make new friends. I also was constantly making art, so I wasn't ever bored even if I was alone."

"To me, Studio 126 means an art bond, and that's what I really wanted."

Parents noticed the difference too.

"Since my teen's participation in Studio 126, she's more inspired, confident, and has grown in her art."

"He's learned and practices what he's learned at home."

That is exactly what Studio 126 is here for. To be a place where young artists feel seen, stretched, and supported. We cannot wait to see what next year holds.

Thank you to Alabama Power for sponsoring this program.

WE'VE BEEN FEATURED.

Wiregrass Museum of Art was just spotlighted by Slow Art Day an international movement celebrated by over 240 museums and cultural institutions across the globe. 🌍

This year, WMA was highlighted on SlowArtDay.com for our sixth annual Slow Art Day event, where art educator Janin Wise led participants through a one-of-a-kind experience of guided slow looking and drawing exercises in the Marie Saliba Gallery.

From families discovering abstract art for the first time to multi-generational visitors finding unexpected connections something special happened in our galleries that day. And the world noticed.

WMA stands alongside institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, M+ in Hong Kong, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston as a recognized part of this global slow art movement.
That's Dothan, Alabama on the world stage. And we're proud of it.
