We love seeing where artwork ends up, and this growing family of Gert Olsen bears absolutely made our day.

Meet Iceberg, Igloo, and Rocky, three beloved bears who have found their forever home and are now keeping watch together. One of the joys of collecting Gert’s work is that each bear seems to develop its own personality, making it almost impossible not to give them a name.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a Gert Olsen bear to your collection, now may be the time. Available bears are currently in short supply, and they rarely stay in the gallery for long.

Already have a Gert bear at home? We’d love to see it! Share a photo in the comments and tell us its name. We’re always curious to meet the newest members of the bear family.

What if you could wear a piece of the lakeshore?

For Paula Neale Rice, the curves of a wave, the shimmer of sunlight on water, and the textures found along the shore become the starting point for something extraordinary.

Each piece is meticulously hand-fabricated in silver and often incorporates gemstones, fossils, and natural materials. The result is jewelry that feels both elegant and deeply connected to the natural world.

Rather than recreating nature, Paula captures its essence, the movement of wind across the water, the glow of reflected light, and the quiet beauty that makes Lake Michigan such a special place.

We’re thrilled to feature Paula’s newest work in Creating a Stir, opening this Saturday alongside new works by Rein Vanderhill and Debra Reid Jenkins.

What does Lake Michigan look like when it’s painted by someone who has spent a lifetime knowing its dunes, waves, and changing light?

For Rein Vanderhill, the shoreline isn’t just a subject… it’s part of who he is.

Born and raised in Holland, Michigan, Rein has become one of the most collected artists at J. Petter Galleries. His paintings capture the beauty, movement, and atmosphere of the lakeshore in a way that feels both familiar and unforgettable.

This Saturday, we’re excited to share new works by Rein as part of Creating a Stir, alongside artists Debra Reid Jenkins and Paula Neale Rice.

Join us for an afternoon of art, live music, refreshments, and the opportunity to meet the artists behind the work.

Newly arrived at J. Petter Galleries: Coastlands II by Peter Kuttner.

Inspired by the dunes of Douglas, this striking mixed media work captures the quiet poetry of the lakeshore. Sail forms rise like sentinels against bands of water, sand, and sky, creating a rhythm that feels both expansive and deeply familiar. There is movement here, but also stillness… a moment suspended between wind and calm.

At 40 x 64 inches, Coastlands II makes a powerful statement while maintaining a sense of serenity that draws viewers in and invites them to stay awhile. For those who love the landscapes and waters that define life along Lake Michigan, this piece feels especially resonant.
