On this day in 1964 the music world changed forever. An estimated 73 million Americans were watching The Beatles on the wildly popular Ed Sullivan Show. In the first segment they performed the songs 'All My Loving', 'Till There Was You' and 'She Loves You'. In the second segment they performed 'I Saw Her Standing There' and 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'.

The Beatles appearance made it possible for other bands from England to come to the United States, which started the British Music Invasion.

The African-American Monument in Paris City Cemetery is a good place to sit and reflect.

The monument was dedicated by the city of Paris in 2006 to memorialize the unnamed former slaves and freedmen who are buried in this section of the cemetery in unmarked graves.

The granite obelisk stands in the center of a circular walk. The obelisk contains two etchings by Artist Jan Foster and a quote from Mordecai Johnson of Paris, who was the first African-American President of Howard University.

The monument stands near the historic Quinn Chapel AME Church.
