With our thoughts on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II we wanted to highlight this military appointment by her Great-Great Grandmother, Queen Victoria. A new and important piece of history at La Galerie Avion. This original document from 1851 is hand signed by Queen Victoria in the upper left corner. The appointment is in excellent condition and features both royal and military seals below Queen Victoria’s signature (Victoria R). Professionally framed with a photo of the Queen. On offer now is this wonderful oil on panel by British artist Bernard Robinson (1912-1970). Mr Robinson had an amazing career as a Production Designer for Hammer Studios, working on many classic films, such as Phantom of the Opera and The Curse of Frankenstein. Mr Robinson had a passion for painting. From Wikipedia, “The style of Bernard Robinson's paintings could be associated with the great cubists or abstract painters of the period such as Picasso and Braque; his handling of paint bear him out as a phenomenal painter who knew his craft and, like Picasso's heavy narrative, he informs by subtle messages conveyed with a rigour of style and oil to canvas that its hard not to be impressed and informed at once. “

Victor Gilsoul (1867-1939) was a Belgian impressionist, luminist and painter who worked mostly on commissions from the European nobility. This lovely 19th century impressionist painting, “Promenade in the Garden”, will be offered this weekend along with several more exciting pieces in our booth at Railroad Station Antiques!
