Join us for Amerinds' 15th Annual Autumn Fest next Saturday, October 24th, from 10 am to 4 pm. At $10 per vehicle, load up the car with family, friends, and neighbors for a fun day packed with lots to see and do.

Come join us this Saturday, October 17th, from 11 am- 12 pm, for a reception with the Sonoran Plein Air Painters to celebrate their group exhibit "Grass, Stone, and Sky." These works celebrate the light, movement, and stillness of southeastern Arizona - a terrain that has drawn human attention for countless generations. Painted outdoors and on location, they capture the golden grasslands, ancient rock, and radiant sky that surrounds the museum. The show will be on view through November 30th, 2026.

While your here check out our latest exhibit, The Heist: When We Return, eight Tohono O'odham women artists were asked to respond to three books: Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley, The Art Thieves by Andrea L. Rogers, and This Great Hemisphere by Mateo Askaripour. The Heist: When We Return is guided by the artists’ connection to the land and their own understanding of the past, present, and future.

More Great Art at Autumn Fest!

Join us for Amerinds' 15th Annual Autumn Fest on Saturday, October 24th, from 10 am to 4 pm. It is a fun day packed with lots to see and do.

We just got word that Ira Lujan (Taos/Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo) will be joining us for Autumn Fest with an artist booth. Some of you may have seen his current exhibit in our Art Gallery Taosoan Glass: The Art of Ira Lujan, which is currently on exhibit through January 10, 2027. Ira is one of the top Native glass artists, forging new expression and innovation in glass. If you haven't seen his work, it is worth the trip to come out and see what new creations he has to offer, view his exhibit, and get the opportunity to meet and chat with Ira.

We hope you will also meet with the other incredible artists who will be at Autumn Fest, including Maria Arvayo, Nanibaa Beck, Anthony Belvado, Priscilla Tacheney, Matagi Sorensen, Talrick Enjady, Evangeline Enoah, the Greenstones, the Goodlucks, Michelle Silver, Colleen Bigman, the Benallys, Earl Dino Patterson Jr., Roger Perkins, and more!

Don't forget to vote for your favorite artist and see who will win this year's People's Choice. We have painters, potters, sculptors, marionette makers, clothing makers, photographers, carvers, jewelers, glass blowers, and more.

In addition to artists' booths, we will have live music by Anthony Belvado, an Apache Fiddle musician and maker, and scholarly talks throughout the day from San Carlos Apache scholars and historians. Our library will host its annual book sale, and we'll have delicious food from CJ's Navajo Frybread Co., La Unica, and Frosty Cactus Sweets. And there is always plenty to see in the Museum and Art Galleries.

Mariana will be reading some of her latest work. Mariana is Amerind's most recent Emerging Artist in Residence. Join us as we talk with Mariana about her work, journey, and her recent writing retreat here at Amerind.

Mariana Rivera is an Indigenous artist born and raised in the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Tucson, Arizona. She is a 2026 Fellow of Indigenous Nations Poets, has interned for local open-mic groups such as Tucson Youth Poetry Slam (TYPS) and The Reading Series, and has served as community curator for a multi-media art exhibition in collaboration with the Arizona State Museum, and showcased at the Amerind.

Mariana encourages community connection through the arts, using the experience gained as a working artist in Tucson to imagine spaces and opportunities within the reservation and her community. Mariana’s passion stems from advocating for the marginalized communities she is part of.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day from the Amerind.
We would like to thank musician Marvin Todacheenie (Navajo) for the beautiful flute and guitar music he played at our Members' Tea today. Marvin is not only an incredible musician, but he also makes flutes and drums. We would also like to thank all of our Members who came to spend the afternoon with us.

We invite you to come out to Amerind's Autumn Fest on Saturday, October 24th, from 10 am to 4 pm to meet artist Colleen Bigman. (Diné/Navajo).

Yá’át’ééh, my name is Colleen Bigman. I am a Navajo artist based in Tucson, Arizona, with over four decades of creative experience. For the past several years, I have specialized in the creation of intricate marionettes—a practice that began with a focus on Katsinas and has evolved into the Native American Pow-Wow Dancers. This work serves as a culmination of a lifetime of artistic disciplines; each piece seamlessly integrates woodworking, sculpting, painting, beadwork, and textile arts to bring these figures to life.
She has been working on a Coyote series that hopefully will be brought to life soon.
Come out and meet Colleen and the many other artists who will be at Autumn Fest. Along with the artist booths, we will have live music, scholarly talks, and food throughout the day, and as always, lots to see in our Museum and Art Galleries. It is a fun and educational day at Amerind!
