About Us

The National Health and Public Safety History Museum offers a broad and compelling collection of America’s finest and worst moments in its health and public safety history. Aside from the thousands of artifacts, inventions and pieces, the museum includes the stories behind these artifacts that bring history alive for our guests.

As the museum grows and is relocated to its new permanent home in Texas (March 2020), new online collections and virtual tours are being added along with new and larger exhibits such as “Middle East Conflict Medics”, “Irish-American Healthcare Heroes” and “Cities Under Siege” ( a new exhibit featuring major historic natural disasters).

All-new “vignette” exhibits are also being installed in late 2019 such as a 19th Century embalming room, a complete obstetrics clinic from the early 60’s and an early 1900’s operating room. Stand inside of a cold war shelter among stocked Civil Defense items or visit an 1800’s pharmacy full of patent medicines.
