Ben Hogan Museum Ben Hogan Museum in Dublin Texas, the childhood home of Ben Hogan. Open most afternoons and by appointment. It is open 1 to 5 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Welcome to the Ben Hogan Museum of Dublin, open most afternoons and by appointment. The Ben Hogan Museum pays tribute to the man and the golfer in his childhood home of Dublin, Texas. Working closely with the Ben Hogan Foundation and the Hogan family, the Dublin museum tells the story of how the family’s blacksmith shop influenced a young boy who, without knowing anything about the world of golf,

learned the art and science of blacksmithing. That understanding would become important to him as a golfer and later as the manufacturer of some of the finest golf equipment ever made. The Dublin museum also tells the story of the Dublin-DeLeon Golf Links and Country Club where Mr. Hogan at the age of 17 returned to win one of his last amateur events before he began the long and torturous climb into professional golf. That first place trophy is currently displayed at the USGA Museum in Far Hills, NJ. The museum highlights his life, the tragedies including his father’s su***de and the horrible car wreck which threatened his career, and his amazing comeback to the victorious 1953 series of wins which were known as the Triple Crown. The Ben Hogan Museum of Dublin tells the story of one man’s courage and determination that not only made him a champion and an icon of golf, but also a role model of hard work and focus. This is the world’s only stand-alone, public museum that tells one of sports history’s most amazing stories. daily and anytime by appointment. The Ben Hogan Museum is owned by the Dublin Historical Society and is funded by donation and fund raising activities such as the annual Cow Pasture Golf Classic which allows golfers to play in “Mr. Hogan’s Long Forgotten Fairways” of the Dublin-DeLeon Golf Links. Please join us in wishing a very Happy Birthday to Jerry Hrnciar! Jerry is one the directors of the Ben Hogan Museum and, maybe more notably, is a member of the Lone Star Conference Hall of Honor, Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame, and NAIA Men's Golf National Championship winner. We couldn't be more proud to have him associated with the Museum. Happy birthday, Jerry!

Our favorite visitor came to see us again last week. Donna Bonk, from Michigan, is a member of the Ben Hogan Foundation board of directors, based in Fort Worth. Donna and Craig were in Texas for the quarterly Ben Hogan Breakfast Club meeting at Shady Oaks CC in Fort Worth. She brought greetings from our friends at the Foundation and we filled her in on what is new in our world. She posed with our remarkable Hogan bronze, wearing the replica Masters jacket. From Dublin, they marked one more thing off their Bucket List by going to Billy Bob’s so Donna (ever the adventurer) could ride a bull!

Many of the visitors to the Ben Hogan Museum in the past few years have been greeted by one of these three hosts. (l-r, Bill Rodriguez, Bob Bowen and Harrell Gilbreath). Today we are saying a sad farewell to Harrell, (better known as Butch by the old-timers), who passed away this week. Our hearts are broken but we are blessed with amazing memories of Harrell’s real life stories and his fascination with Mr. Hogan. Harrell was a good host, but mostly, he was a good man. How we will miss him!

Ben Hogan preached class and character.

Ben Hogan’s 1950 U.S. Open win wasn’t just about great golf; it was about human willpower defying the impossible.

Sixteen months earlier, Hogan had been told he might never walk again after a near-fatal car crash. His pelvis shattered, his body broken, and his career seemingly over, he refused to surrender. “You can bet I’ll be back there swinging,” he vowed from his hospital bed.

And he was.

At Merion, still in pain and with his legs bandaged, Hogan fought through exhaustion, walking every hole with the quiet strength of a man who had already endured more than any fairway could demand. His legendary 1-iron into the 18th green, a swing captured forever in one of golf’s most iconic photographs, became a symbol of perseverance itself.

When he lifted the U.S. Open trophy the next day, it wasn’t just a win. It was redemption. It was proof that courage can outlast catastrophe. Hogan didn’t just return to golf—he redefined what it meant to come back.
