On Memorial Day, we honor the lives of the brave men and women who gave their last, full measure of devotion in service to this country.

On the grounds at Kentuck K**b, visitors can see two pieces of the Berlin Wall, a reminder of freedom's never-ending struggle against tyranny and oppression.

2026 marks 40 years of the Palumbo family's stewardship of Kentuck K**b and surrounding property.

During that time, over 30 sculptures and artifacts are displayed around the house and along the nearly mile-long Woodland Walk. An array of modern sculptures from industrial materials and artwork from natural materials to compliment the mountains of the Laurel Highlands.

Grounds Passes are available at the Visitors Centre and are also included with every group tour ticket when you visit. It's nearly a mile long walk amongst the trees and 30 sculptures ending at the Youghiogheny River Overlook. The walk takes about 20 minutes in total but we recommend taking your time, allowing at least half an hour.

Signs of spring, each year as the snow melts and the weather warms, the bulbs are first to burst from the ground followed by new leaves sprouting from the trees that have slept through the winter.

1. The view from inside framed by blossom branches to bring a whiff of spring inside in the tradition of bringing Japanese spring blossom branches indoors is known as 'hanami' which roughly translates as flower viewing. This historically involved enjoying the transient beauty of flowers, primarily cherry blossoms (sakura) and plum blossoms (ume). While modern hanami typically refers to outdoor picnics under blooming trees, the ancient practice originated with the elite admiring plum blossoms in private settings, a custom that later evolved to include cherry blossoms.

2. The view from the front of Kentuck K**b through the bud leaves bursting from one of the many trees surrounding the house.

3. Purple flowers on the ground outside of one of the clerestory window, a really good example of how the sandstone house is built into the hill. The wooden ceiling with dentil detailing and copper roof mirror the natural flowing landscape around.
