1️⃣ Where was he born?

2️⃣ What is Dave’s favorite piece of history?

As Vice President, Dave works collaboratively with the DHS team to make decisions that benefit the Society and the town. He’s also always willing to lend a hand—or some horsepower—to projects and events!

Speaking of horsepower… Dave’s draft horses have practically become the official mascots of the DHS! He enjoys working with them in all kinds of ways, attends many New Hampshire fairs, and provides wagon rides throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts—including for Old Home Day, weddings, and even funerals.

3️⃣ Besides working with his draft horses, what is another one of Dave’s talents?
a. Woodworking
b. Writing poetry and prose
c. Oil Painting
d. Basket weaving

He believes history is essential because it shows us how people dealt with life during times when things weren’t so easy—and can remind us just how much has changed.

Ok, you asked your friends about Tuesday’s trivia and now you all want to know who answered the questions correctly! Here goes! 👇

Alison was born in Morrisville, Vermont (b) and shortly after, her parents Raymond and Sibyl Adams (a) made the move to Dunbarton! She has contributed to the community in many ways including, but not limited to, her participation and membership of The Mayflower Society (d) AND Daughters of the American Revolution! 🤯

Take a quick look at today’s reel to dive a little deeper. 😊

🚨 Trivia Tuesday 🚨
This week we’re highlighting Alison Vallieres, who has served as president of the DHS for seven years!

1️⃣ Where was Alison born?
a. New Hampshire
b. Vermont
c. Maine
d. Massachusetts

2️⃣ What is her maiden name?
a. Adams
b. Standish
c. Dames
d. Williamson

Alison’s family moved to Dunbarton when she was just four years old, and her parents were charter members of the Dunbarton Historical Society. Continuing their mission of preserving and sharing our town’s history is one of the driving forces behind her involvement with the Society. The other is her late husband, Ted.

As a former DHS president, Ted initiated the transfer of the Jameson Cape home from Flintlock Farm to the DHS property on Stark Highway. Because of that connection, the Cape is especially meaningful to Alison, and she looks forward to seeing the project come to fruition!

3️⃣ What other Society is Alison a member of?
a. The Society of Architectural Historians
b. The Society for Military History
c. The Society for American Archaeology
d. The Mayflower Society

At this point, history is ingrained in Alison, and the DHS is especially dear to her heart. She has been a strong part of the Dunbarton community for years and continues to follow in her family’s footsteps!

Instead of scrolling next to each other in silence, ask your fellow scroller what they think the answers are! 😏 We’ll post the answers and a reel this Friday!

10/06/2026

b. Almost 10 years
c. Almost 20 years
d. Almost 30 years

Fortunately for us, Allison has served on the DHS Executive Board for six years!

c. Treasurer
d. Secretary

3️⃣ What is Allison’s favorite piece of Dunbarton history?
a. Gerry Williams
b. Stark Grange
c. Dunbarton Telephone Company
d. Scipio Page

Allison loves seeing active community involvement and hopes DHS membership continues to grow with more people dedicated to preserving and showcasing Dunbarton’s history.

Take your best guesses, ask someone what they think, then check back Friday for the answers and see how you did! As usual, we’ll have a fresh reel ready to watch too. Stay tuned!

Happy October! On Tuesday we featured Wayne Mills and we have the answers to the trivia and some fun facts to share!

👉 Wayne was born in Grasmere, NH (a)—which comes with a little history of its own!

🤓 Grasmere was once home to the Hillsborough County Hospital, built in 1906 across from the county poor farm to care for the sick and the county’s poor. The hospital included separate wards for men and women, an operating room, maternity ward, and even a ward for tuberculosis patients. In 1953, it was renamed Moore General Hospital. The hospital eventually closed and the building was demolished in 1995.

🌟 Were you—or someone you know—born at Moore General Hospital in Grasmere? Leave a comment! 😍

👉 Wayne has always been drawn to the town’s churches (b) and their remarkable architecture. Both stand proud and welcoming, much like the men and women who settled our town.

🫶 Today, they’re fortunate to have hardworking, dedicated people who continue to preserve these historic buildings and the purpose they serve in our community.

👉 The farm on Mills Hill was best known for its milk (a)! Wayne has one of the few remaining Mills Dairy milk bottles, embossed with “Mills Hill, Dunbarton, NH.”

🥛 The farm delivered milk locally, but it also traveled farther! Milk was brought to the train depot in Concord—where Nina’s Bistro & Sandwiches is today—and shipped by rail to be sold in Boston. A little piece of Dunbarton history that traveled all the way to the big city!

🌟 Watch our reel to learn more!
