That means our Oklahoma Origins exhibition featuring Jennifer Hustis, Mark Hustis, and Will Mantor will be coming to a close at the end of the month.

If you haven’t seen this incredible show yet, now is the time — it’s truly a show‑stopper and an absolute must‑see. Their mixed media, woodworking, and ceramics have brought such energy and elegance to the Garis Gallery, and we don’t want you to miss it before it’s gone.

Welcoming September & Honoring Our Service Members
Labor Day is just around the corner, which means our Blue Star summer is coming to a close soon. While we’re always a little sad to see this special season end, we remain deeply grateful for the service of our military community.

Blue Star Museums offers free admission to active‑duty service members and up to five family members — and this year’s program wraps up on Monday, September 7. If you’ve been on the fence about visiting, now is the perfect time to stop by and enjoy a meaningful day together.

And remember, we proudly welcome our veterans with free admission every day, all year long.

Less than TWO weeks left of Blue Star Museums!
If you’ve been thinking about bringing your family to the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, now’s the perfect time.

As a Blue Star Museum, all active duty service members and their families (up to 5) receive FREE admission through Labor Day. And because we proudly offer free admission for veterans year‑round, veterans and their families are also welcome to enjoy the museum at no cost.

Blue Star wraps up on Labor Day, so don’t miss your chance to enjoy a summer visit on the trail. We’d love to see you.

🕷️ Oh no… SPIDER‑MAN has been spotted in our Bird Blind!
Don’t worry — he’s not causing trouble. He’s just hanging out, watching the birds, and keeping an eye out for any sneaky villains on the trail.

🎨 Art Awaits — From the Vault: “El Desterrado” by Bob Beck

Today’s Art Awaits feature comes from deep within our vault—a powerful and personal work titled “El Desterrado” by Bob Beck. Though not currently on display, this piece carries a story worth sharing.

Beck painted this old buffalo shortly after the passing of his father, his lifelong fishing partner. On a quiet drive home from one of their favorite lakes, he noticed a lone buffalo standing apart from the herd. That image became a symbol of aging, illness, and the feeling of being set aside—something he had witnessed during his father’s final weeks in a nursing home.

In Spanish, El Desterrado means “the exile.” Through this painting, Beck reflects on love, loss, and the hope of reunion. It’s a reminder of how art can hold our most personal stories and connect us across experiences.

🖼️ Art Awaits brings forward the hidden gems in our vault—pieces that aren’t on the gallery walls but still have stories worth discovering.

🔧 A quick update from the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center

We’re currently installing new sound equipment in our Experience Theater, Campfire Theater, and Interactive Area. While we’re excited about these upgrades, it does mean these areas are temporarily unavailable.

Thank you for your patience as we work to make your visit even better. We’ll share updates right here on Facebook as soon as everything is up and running again.
