PENNY LANE, Beatles Museum is the brainchild of a long time Dunedin resident and humanitarian who considers the time is right to share his eclectic collection of Beatles memorabilia covering several decades dating back to 1961...from Yellow Submarine paraphernalia to Beatles puppets and pins. This exhibit of Beatles memorabilia is curated by Colin Bissett who grew up in Liverpool, England, where

the Beatles started, and who enjoyed seeing performances at the Cavern Club and the Casbah Coffee Club in the early sixties before they became a world-wide phenomenon.

The Penny Lane Beatles Museum has had a few technical issues over the past couple of weeks, and we’re sorry for the unexpected radio silence. But don’t worry — we’re getting back in tune and starting back up this week!

Did you get it right?! The Beatles recorded "Baby, You’re a Rich Man" at Olympic Sound Studios in Barnes, London. This session was significant because it was the first time the band recorded and mixed a track from start to finish at a studio other than their usual home base, Abbey Road Studios (then known as EMI Studios).
They managed to complete the entire song—recording and mixing—in just one six-hour session!

Did you get it right?! "Long Tall Sally": Recorded in one take on March 1, 1964. It was a staple of their live performances, allowing the band to nail it immediately in the studio. "Rock and Roll Music": Recorded in a single take on October 18, 1964, for the album Beatles For Sale. "Everybody’s Trying to Be My Baby": Also recorded in one take during the same October 1964 session, featuring George Harrison on lead vocals. Thanks for playing!
