Helen Bumpus Gallery

The Helen Bumpus Gallery is a non profit Art Gallery located in the Duxbury Free Library.

It exhibits artists work form the New England area.The Gallery was started and founded by Helen McBurnie Bumpus of Duxbury in 1968. The Helen Bumpus Gallery was founded in 1968 with a gift from Helen McBurnie Bumpus, who was born in 1891 and died at the age of 92 in 1983 in Duxbury. Her gift to the town established an art gallery in the rotunda of the original 1909 building that housed the Duxbury

Free Library. The Helen Bumpus Gallery is now located in the center of the new Duxbury Free Library.

"I would like to inspire local residents to marvel at the colors all around them that they might take for granted, whether it be an old mailbox, shadows on the beach, or a cranberry harvest in progress."
