At long last, the last big piece of our Millard Fillmore Expansion Project that began a decade ago is finally complete! Blue Devil Design did an amazing job designing and creating our new educational signs and installed them at the Fillmore Museum this afternoon. We can’t wait to continue working with them on future projects!

Thanks to Richard Schmon, Northrup Knox's grandson, for reaching out after seeing last week's history video about the origin of the Buffalo Sabres colors. He shared this photograph of a Sabres jersey next to a modern version of the "Aurora Colors" from the polo team at Knox Farm.

"I resurrected the Aurora polo team in 2021 here in Aiken SC. Myself and a couple of my female cousins have been flying the Aurora colors both here in Aiken and in Argentina ever since."

To learn more about the origin of the Sabres "blue and gold" and their connection to East Aurora, check out last week's history video: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1249620934029897 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkZUFdNDwlw&t=63s

Today we remember the tragic sinking of the 𝘙𝘔𝘚 𝘓𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘰𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘺 7, 1915. Pictured is an original newspaper published by the Buffalo News on May 8, 1915 generously donated to us this spring by Mark and Kristy Bradish.

Among those lost on the sinking of the Lusitania were Elbert Hubbard, and his wife, Alice. Hubbard’s legacy lives on through the ideals of craftsmanship, creativity, and community that continue to define 'Roycroft' today.

Despite some technical difficulties that left us without any visual aids, it was an amazing lecture! Thank you for joining us!

Trustee Jeff Schober gave an enlightening and relevant talk about Grover Cleveland's secret cancer surgery and the honesty of the press. Trustees Brigance, Francis and Feraldi joined him at the Aurora Historical Society speaker series.
Check out our Speakers Bureau on our website for a wealth of topics available!
