Artificial intelligence is one of those topics everyone has an opinion on, but far fewer people feel like they truly understand. Is AI going to cure diseases or take our jobs? Save the planet or drain it dry? Make us smarter or make us obsolete?

Happy Library Card Sign Up Month! This September, the East Haddam Library System invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month and discover how a library card can hit all the right notes, no matter what your tastes are.

Whether you’re checking out a classic story or trying something new, finding harmony at the library’s programs, vibing out in a cozy nook, or composing your future with new skills, there’s a seat in the front row at the library for you, and your library card is the ticket.

The Spooky CT writing contest is back for another year!

Writers of all ages (kids - adults) are welcome to submit their spooky short stories between September 14th and October 16th.

Stories must be:
🎃A maximum of 2,750 words
🎃Set anywhere in CT (past, present or future)
🎃Have no excessive language or gore
🎃Use no AI must be an original piece
🎃Authors must live in the town in which they are submitting their stories

All submissions must be uploaded to our online submission form that will be up on our website starting Sept. 14th.

If you need assistance uploading your story, please stop by one of the libraries and we would be happy to help you get your story submitted!

The winning stories from each age group will be featured in a bound ‘best of’ story collection called Spooky CT alongside other winners from all over the state. We hope to see all of your best spooky stories this fall!
