Last week, 's silver specialist, Todd Sell, conducted a special appraisal of the Mulford heirloom teapot as he discussed the historical context surrounding its creation and use. ๐Ÿซ–โœจ

He also brought up the work of Elias Pelletreau, who he calls โ€œthe silversmith of Long Island.โ€ One of the rare teapots made by Pelletreau, the Mulford piece is a beautiful example of colonial silversmithing. ๐Ÿ‘

As you tour the house, youโ€™ll learn about Colonel David Mulford, who helped lead the cause for American independence in East Hampton, as well as the enslaved people of color such as Acca, Daniel, Jack, and Rose, who sustained the farm during the American Revolution.

Join us on Saturday, August 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at ๐Ÿ“ 10 James Lane in East Hampton! The tour is FREE for members of the EH Historical Society, and $12 for non-members. Can't make it on Saturday? Check out our calendar on our website for other available tour dates!

East Hampton mobilized its militia to link up with the Continental Army, but the patriots were soundly defeated. As summer began to end, the greatest tests of the war soon lay ahead for East Hampton.

A remarkable piece of East Hampton history has returned home. ๐Ÿซ–โœจ

Now on view at Mulford Farm is a rare silver teapot passed down through generations of Colonel David and Phebe Mulford's descendants. Bearing the maker's mark of renowned Southampton silversmith Elias Pelletreau and the initials "D M P," historians believe it was likely crafted for David Mulford and Phebe Huntting around the time of their 1751 marriage.

This extraordinary heirloom, which was even featured on Antiques Roadshow, offers a fascinating glimpse into the Mulford family's history and will help inform the restoration and interpretation of Mulford Farm.

๐Ÿ“ See it on display at Mulford Farm through October 7.
๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ Through September 6: Thursdayโ€“Monday, 11 a.m.โ€“4 p.m.
๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ September 10โ€“October 2: Thursday & Friday, 11 a.m.โ€“4 p.m.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to see an extraordinary piece of East End history up close! ๐Ÿค—
