Lantern Art Trail,
East Providence
Update as of July 1st, two are installed, the concrete base in place for the third.

Well :) , *Three Years ago I created my concept design for a series of Lantern shaped Towers, that would create an Art Trail of such lanterns throughout the city, particularly in city parks and would present large painted creative art panels by a revolving group of artists, over time, is finally coming to life in the city of East Providence.
Thanks to EPAC, the cities support, and other craftsmen/fabricators.

*So this Idea was originally birthed as temporary units I would build for Art Festivals I would run.
I then took it one step further, looking for a unique approach that could highlight the City of East Providence in a unique way.
Designed before Covid,
The concept is just now coming to life in EP as three Lantern Art Trail Towers have been recently built.

As I noted in a Feb post Here is an update about about the TLW/ S55 location continuing as my personal studio. ;)
**Over the past 28 to 30 months many of our lives have been a roller coaster of events, changes, potential changes, life restructuring, gains and losses.
Over the past 10 months we attempted to do some major rearranging of life, art, and studio location.
But as the winds of change blew our nation into recession territory, those goals and changes hit a big brick wall.
For now.
So for at least one year and potentially two, we are going to stay put and try to rebuild something from the metaphorical bomb fire that the past 28 months left us. ;)
Let's see what 2023 & 2024 bring us.

My friend Erica Derrickson wrote this thought in a message and I felt it encapsulated my reason for loving the symbolism of trees and life.
She wrote, "Yes, like a strong tree. What I like about trees is that they share and give to others, supporting biodiversity and the health of the whole ecosystem, from a place of their own aliveness."

The process of making art and creative objects is art.
In the process of making you come across images, moments captured that are art as well. You not only work at the process of that work, you capture that process so that you make another layer of art.
Thus an idea becomes a sketch, that becomes a model, that becomes a series of parts to be made, which get photographed, that becomes a sculpture, that becomes a series of photos, that becomes a show both physical and visual, that inspires writing that becomes a book, that inspires others to create.
All the layers of the process are potential art.

Five years ago I was busy completing this restaurant project as it's designer and the fabricator of much its original themed decor. So I am grateful that it has brought some life and color to the Pawtucket Main Street community and is getting some attention for the unique place it is. Having this Trees Of Life Art Fabrication Company project in my own back yard and in a community whose art community I advocate for has been a lot of fun. Bringing a bit of New York city restaurant style and flash was my intent for Pawtucket and the years of positive feedback on my work has been greatly appreciated.

After all most 12 years in the city of Pawtucket, a place we have come to support with our extended creative efforts and our associated brands/organizations, our offices are relocating to 15 Warren Avenue in East Providence, RI. Thanks Pawtucket for many years of fostering our en-devours and supporting our broader goals during this recent part of our 28 year history. Remember that we are there to help you "construct whats in your imagination" every time you drive across the Rt 195 Bridge, our new neighbor.
