Our Theater Renovation project continues to progress, but we're still in need of additional donations to complete Phase 1. This phase will include a new interior wall for a storage area for the new tables and chairs coming in Phase 2, as well as enclose the electrical closet and reconnect the AC units that were disconnected for the renovation.

We are 90% to full funding for Phase 1 and looking to raise $10,000 for this final work. We are humbled and honored that this renovation has been fully funded through personal and business donations to date. We thank everyone who has contributed to the effort and we look forward to celebrating the opening of this multipurpose room very soon.

Phase 2 will launch for additional enhancements to the room, such as flooring, new tables and chairs, audio/visual systems, kitchenette and more. This multipurpose room will host meetings, events, birthday parties and more.

This post is a little older from East Troy Railroad Museum, but our museum has a particular interest in the Car 162 restoration. North Shore Car 162 was in the CT Trolley Museum Collection from 1971-2022. We can't wait to see this car fully restored and operating again!

Connecticut Company #65 is the first trolley car added to our collection. Originally built in 1907 by the Wason Company of Springfield, MA for the Consolidated Railway Co. The car ran on the Putnam, CT area lines for the Consolidated Railway and operated out of the Dayville car barn. The Putnam lines consisted of 39 miles of trackage from Moosup to West Thompson.

The car was saved from the scrapper in 1925 when the Putnam lines were abandoned and cars #51-55 and #65 were sent to Hartford. Connecticut Company #65 operated on the suburban lines until 1941.

Car #65 had a unique feature in that it originally was equipped with Taylor SB trucks and GE motors. In 1932, the trucks were swapped for C-50 t rucks with WH101B motors for more speed and better riding. These are the same trucks #65 is equipped with today.

Car #65 was a "loner" built as part of a one car order. As such, it was never a part of a series of like cars.
