Join us on Saturday , May 16 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM for the reception of Small Scale, Epic World, featuring the work of photographer and visual artist Darrell Clemmer.

Darrell will be at the gallery during the reception, and we’d love for folks to come spend time with the work, talk process, and celebrate this incredible show together.

Using toy photography, cinematic lighting, and carefully staged miniature worlds, Darrell transforms familiar characters into something intimate, dramatic, and alive. The result is playful, emotional, and deeply human all at once.

Small Scale, Epic World is currently on view at 50 Arrow Gallery.

Two days. Two receptions. We’re moving.

On Friday, May 15, join us at Holyoke Media from 5:30–7:30 PM for the reception of In Concert, a collaborative exhibition featuring BIPOC artists from across Western Mass. This show brings together a range of voices and perspectives in a shared space, and we’re proud to be part of it.

Then on Saturday, May 16, we’re back at the gallery for the reception of Darrell Clemmer’s Small Scale, Epic World. Darrell will be in the building, and if you’ve seen even a glimpse of this work, you know it’s something special. Precise, cinematic, and full of energy.

If you’ve been meaning to stop by, this is the weekend.

SMALL SCALE, EPIC WORLD

We’re excited to have Darrell Clemmer in the gallery.

Darrell is an African-American photographer based in New Hampshire, building entire worlds out of action figures. What could feel small becomes cinematic. Light, shadow, and framing turn plastic into something alive. These images carry weight, tension, and story. You don’t just look at them, you step into them.

There’s something sharp here about scale. About who gets to be seen as epic. About how imagination fills the gaps left by the world.

The show is open now through June. Reception to follow.

Come spend some time with it.

Today 50 Arrow Gallery honors the memory of Rosemary Tracy, a powerful elder, and colleague in the Western Massachusetts arts community, who we have just learned has passed.

Rosemary was someone we worked alongside and learned from over the years. Through her work with Art for the Soul and our collaborations, we shared a lot of time in conversation, working through ideas, occasionally venting about the realities of creative work, and often leaving things with a plan to do the next thing “soon.”

She was there at the opening of 50 Arrow Gallery, and her support, both for the space and for us as artists, meant a great deal.

From one of our founders, Jason Montgomery: “She was also the first person to remind me that if you want others to respect your art, you have to respect it first. Even something as simple as not putting it on the floor. That stuck with me.

Her presence in this community, and in my own work, mattered.”

We are so grateful to have known her and to have worked alongside her.

Rest in power, Rosemary.

We’re sitting with this one for a moment.

Deep gratitude to NEFA for recognizing 50 Arrow Gallery as part of the 2026 Public Art for Spatial Justice cohort.

This work has always been about people. About who gets to exist in public, who gets seen, who gets to shape the story of a place. We’re honored to be in community with artists and organizations across Massachusetts who are doing that work every day.

We’ll carry this forward the only way we know how, by building spaces that are honest, accessible, and rooted in the people around us.

Thank you for trusting us with it.

Repost from via
“We are proud to announce the 2026 recipients of the Public Art for Spatial Justice (PASJ) grant. Totaling $460k, these 16 grants support public art projects that create more just, vibrant, and welcoming public spaces across Massachusetts.”

We may officially have the ugliest events chalkboard of any art gallery.

Truly. Somewhere a graphic designer just felt a disturbance in the force.

You can blame Jason’s dyslexia… or you can blame the fact that we were too busy actually hosting things to make the sign pretty.

Either way, here’s what’s coming up at 50 Arrow:

3/10 – Qt Yoga with
3/11 – Yin Practice with Angelica
3/24 – Qt Yoga with Fran
3/25 – Memory Practice with Angelica

The chalkboard may be chaotic. The programming is not.

We’re building space for breath, reflection, and community this month. Come move with us. Come sit with us. Come remember with us.
