To all our friends of LOCAL gallery:

It's with a heavy heart I share that, as of April 30th, LOCAL will be closing its doors at its 40 Cottage Street location for good. The pandemic has caused us to look at a lot of things more closely, and the gallery was one of those things. With all the important social distancing guidelines in place for a seeming indefinite period of time, it just didn’t seem possible to keep our doors open any longer.

LOCAL has been such a labor of love. It honestly breaks my heart to see it go. Lennie and I have been so honored to be a host for some of the most brilliant works of art seen anywhere. We will miss the tranquility it brought to those that came in and that it brought to our hearts. I too will miss partnering with Lynne Adams, an amazing artist and friend who taught me so much and helped us to make each show a thing of beauty.

However, before we opened LOCAL, many of you may remember that the Cider House office, at 28 Northampton Street, was an official stop on Easthampton’s Art Walk. For two years we hosted a new artist there every month. So once it is safe to be in groups again, we plan to use our offices for this purpose as LOCAL. The artists of our community need to be honored as much as they can be, so we look forward to being able to do that again.

But here’s some really good news! One of LOCAL’s next shows was to be the amazing duo of Kate Childs and Laura Radwell. We are excited to say that we will be putting their show online! We all need beauty and joy in our lives; now more than ever. Gazing at a Childs or Radwell piece of art will, no matter where it is, instantly bring us that inspiration and happiness that we crave. Stay tuned for more details on that!

Thank you all for what you brought to our little gallery: whether it be your art, your laughter, your smiles, your funny stories, your hugs, your little ones, your friends, and just you. You are why we created LOCAL. You are what made it a special, worthwhile and simply put - a really great place to just be. ❤️

Hi everyone. It's Elizabeth with LOCAL.

I must have said a thousand times how bizarre a time this is. That adjective best describes how, in what seems to be an instant, the norms of our society are out the window and with them just about everything that we used to call "business as usual".

Because of this and our deep concern for the safety of our community, LOCAL will be closed at least until the end of April. We will let you know if the closure extends any longer.

Go for a walk and drink in Mother Nature. She's created some of the best art around!

UPDATE!

We are holding over our "Singular" show another month until March 28th. Mountains Majesty will be opening on April 3rd and closing April 25th. We are still accepting submissions for our next show, "Mountains Majesty".

Artists of all backgrounds and working in all media are encouraged to apply.

All media is eligible for consideration: all visual arts, painting, drawing, sculpture, and video. We are open to seeing other mediums as well. Our theme is mountains. We are open to many different styles and formats and thinking and creating outside of the box. The show opens on March 6th and will be up until April 26th. We are very open to 3D as well as 2D work. Abstract art is welcome too. $35 for one up to three images; $5 for each additional image. Follow this link to submit:

And then they all came in… Photographer and Williston teacher Ed Hing brought a group of his students into the gallery for a look around. It was awesome hanging out with some young artists who were really enjoying the work. .
