Many people have requested a picture of one of the favorite stops for every East Detroit resident...This is the Rexall drug store that was at the NW corner of the long standing Kaiser Building...How many of you can remember the name of the Pharmacist who often doubled as the soda jerk at the soda fountain...Clue...His first name was Henry and he had a habit of smacking his lips (esp if you were a high school student lingering around while you sipped a Boston cooler)

The East Detroit Historical Society is eager to have the 1921 Model TT Fire Truck return to the city of Eastpointe for Cruise Week and to be part of the celebration of the departments 100 years. Eighteen years ago this historical society joined hands with other local residents and businesses to begin restoration of the beloved #!--the truck that was purchased by local residents and given to the Village of Halfway when it was incorporated in 1924. After 5 years of fund raising, rebuilding and painting, the truck rode in the 2008 Cruise Parade, a testimony to the East Pointe community and their local pride. Today the truck returns to Eastpointe to celebrate 100 years. Check out the original parts, the shining brass, the beautiful paint work from Clovers Collision, and the wood that came from Ford's Forest in Michigan's UP. The truck will be in the parade and then on display at Ethlyn Court.

This year, it is the Cruise' honor and privilege to salute the Eastpointe Fire Dept on it's first 100 years. Congratulations to a great department that has provided outstanding service to the local community.
