Classes at Decadent Gifts and Gallery


Our instructors are local established artists working in many mediums such as watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, and more. Participants do not ‘copy,’ but instead, use an experimental approach as they incorporate new techniques to create works of art. Decadent Gifts and Gallery will be offering a variety of Art Classes and Art Talks in our After-Hours Series. Classes and Art Talks usually meet on Tuesday or Thursday evenings or Saturday afternoons and are held at Decadent Gifts and Gallery. Larger events hosted by Decadent Gifts and Gallery may be offered at a different location, such as the BrewProjekt. See our Events tab for ticket information with available classes, dates, times, and locations. With small class sizes, events sell out quickly, so check the website often for new offerings.

We are fortunate to have two incredible nature photographers on board as In-House Artists! Jim Backus has been with us since the beginning with his world travel photos of the animals and spaces that most of us can only dream of. While well known for this, he has some of our local animals and locations featured, as well. Large scale canvases and leaf shaped metal prints are definitely eye-catching focal points in any home gallery; he also has an extensive collection of prints and delightful wooden boxes just perfect for your tiny treasures like jewelry or natures adornments of acorns and seed pods. So, sneak in a few more nature walks before the snow covers them. We always recommend the river walk just past our door, but any nearby trail will do. Eau Claire is FULL of them - and our gallery is FULL of art! Over 4,000 pieces of local art!

When the deep fall colors give us that nudge that winter white is coming, it's only natural that we look to find ways to keep the nuances of summer close to home. The sweet smell of field grasses, the soft petals of prairie flowers, the flutter of the monarchs all become memories to cherish as the cold descends upon us. Not surprising that collectors chose photography that captures it perfectly. Dallas Bennett knows how to be in the right place at the right time with the right equipment. It's a recipe for success that brings back his collectors. So, when this nature enthusiast came in to claim her third Creating Wild image printed this time on canvas, we weren't surprised. Come dig through the print selections, and you'll see why. To ensure the highest quality of focus and color matching reality, Dallas does his own printing, and you can request an image in a variety of sizes. Turnaround time is remarkably fast.

Technically, we don't open until 11, but if you swing by earlier, chances are someone is here. If the door is open, we're open. This morning, that's 8 am. The hot tea pot is on and the sun is welcoming. Our table is brightened by flowers gifted by In-House Artist, Dallas Bennett and new stone sculptures by Erin Zigler-Miller's Native Earth Trees and Treasures. Pearls, quartz, citrine, jasper, agates, and more delicately adorn her latest selection of trees and jewelry. Proof again, that our artists have both technical skill and the generous spirit that makes our gallery a precious treasure for our growing art loving community. Come and be a part of it all. Especially on early mornings where there is sure to be a seat for you at our table.

In-House Artist Helen Buck has been bringing in new work for gallery visitors to enjoy. This latest piece, an inspirational nod to Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, contains some of the surrealist elements that can also be found in Frida's work - pain, death, and cultural references. "Secrets of the Burning Heart" is filled with symbolism that followers of Frida should understand, and collectors of Helen's work can appreciate. Perfect for this fall season when masks and skeletons enjoy the spotlight with gorgeous pumpkin orange. 16" x 40" this canvas original is sure to be a conversation starter.
