More progress being made on the Jerred D. Ruble Center. Inside concrete is finished. Big props to John Sisulak and the guys at Mainline Builds for the quality job on the crete! The building will be delivered today and construction will start next Tuesday. The main building will be the registration center along with a museum and library area. The North portion that is taller will be the Eagle Nest, where the restored Case eagle we have in storage will now live. It will be on a trolley rail system that will allow it to be taken outside during events for you to see and take photos! AND it will revolve at a very slow pace on its base!! You won't want to miss this new addition this year, you'll be blown away! Stay tuned, more updates as the building goes up and the trolley is fabricated. Thank you again to the Jerred D. Ruble Family Charitable Foundation for making this possible. We truly are honored to be a part of Jerred's legacy. We will do the best job possible to make this a proud icon in memory of him.

Janesville, 1918

You’re looking at the birth of an industrial titan.

This is the powerhouse and smokestack of the Samson Tractor Company under construction in 1918. General Motors bought the company and promised to make Janesville the "Tractor City" of the world.

For a few short years, they did. At its peak, the plant employed over 3,000 people right here.

That stack said "SAMSON" to everyone for miles. It was Janesville betting big on the future of farming.
Though the Samson dream ended in 1922, the industrial DNA it left behind shaped Janesville for the next century.

Recognize this skyline? Did your family work at Samson? Tell us your connection to this piece of Janesville history.
