Military shadowbox display for this woman's service in the now defunct branch of the army, the Women's Army Corps.
Formed originally as an auxiliary unit, the WAC organization was started in July, 1943, it was disbanned on October 20, 1978. The official branch colors were mosstone green x old gold piping, so all the badges and pins were mounted with olive green x metallic gold double reverse mat baord reveals. This brave lady was stationed in Thailand and some of the insignias are interesting. Like the 100 Missions on a Baht Bus, which she said refers to basically a pickup truck with benches nailed to the bed. The company guidon flag was also added, which shows off the official Pallas Athene insignia. A parchment linen mat board used for the top mat layer and a Komodo black wooden frame for contrast (and to match her some Thailand prints that we recently designed with). Finshed with black spacers and conservation UV glass.
This was one of the coolest military shadowboxes I've ever designed for. This was a superb way to preserve and display such an important part of history! 🪖 🇹🇭 🌍
