Did you know John Carradine wanted Dracula to have a BIG, drooping mustache?

The “House of Dracula” star wanted his Count to look more like the character in Bram Stoker’s novel. Universal insisted on a neatly trimmed version instead. Apparently, even Dracula had to follow the studio’s grooming rules!

Catch Carradine’s Count tomorrow Saturday, October 24, at Creature Feature! “House of Dracula” starts outdoors at 6:30 PM at the Gallery of History Museum in El Dorado.

Did you know the “mad doctor” in “House of Dracula” starts out trying to HELP the monsters?

Onslow Stevens plays Dr. Franz Edelmann, a kindly physician trying to cure Dracula and the Wolf Man. His good intentions take a sinister, Jekyll-and-Hyde-style turn! Stevens even earned praise from The Hollywood Reporter for his performance back in 1945.

Talk about a rough day at the office!

Meet the doctor this Saturday, October 24, at Creature Feature. The outdoor screening starts at 6:30 PM at the Gallery of History Museum in El Dorado.

The monsters aren’t the only ones making noise this Saturday!

The Boomer Hill Band takes the stage at 8 PM during Creature Feature, bringing soul, blues, and rock ’n’ roll to E. Faulkner Street! Come ready to dance as we turn the street into a Halloween party until 10 PM.

Actor Glenn Strange recalled spending hours buried in cold liquid mud while filming—even staying put when the crew left for lunch! That’s one way to get stuck at work.

Did you know the Wolf Man in “House of Dracula” (1945) is the ORIGINAL howling star?

Lon Chaney Jr. first played Larry Talbot in “The Wolf Man” (1941), then returned to the role in four more films—including this Saturday’s Creature Feature. Talk about a hairy career!

The South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society (SAHPS) invites you to settle in for our Silver Screen Vintage Movie showings, featuring films from the Michael G. Fitzgerald Collection.

We’re starting Tuesday, November 3, with Maisie (1939), starring Ann Sothern as a quick-witted showgirl whose adventures take her somewhere unexpected! Throughout Novembe, follow Maisie from a Wyoming ranch to adventures abroad, a gold rush, high society, and the boxing world.

Welcome Airstreamers!

Our Gallery of History will be OPEN this Saturday from 10am - 2pm to welcome all the Airstreamers in town!

It's a big weekend downtown for Main Street El Dorado's Airstreams on the Square. For three days, downtown El Dorado becomes a destination with dozens of beautiful Airstreams filling the historic square, plus live music, great food, unique classes, shopping, and entertainment for the whole family.

Make a full fun day of it — come downtown, tour the Airstreams, enjoy all the festivities around the Union County Courthouse square, and be sure to stop in and see us at the Gallery!

THANK YOU, EL DORADO! What a Night!

Wow....thank you to everyone who came out to last night's Open House!

We had such a wonderful evening sharing this incredible traveling exhibit from ExhibitsUSA & Mid-America Arts Alliance with you. Great conversations, great food inspired by The Cash and Carter Family Cookbook, and a great crowd — it was so wonderful to have all of you with us!
