The part that doesn't get talked about a lot in the small business owning vending world is the discipline it requires in all facets of one's life.

In order to be able to sell your work, you need to be able to do the setup and have the endurance to last the entire show, then pack it all in at the end.

After a slew of intense injuries and illnesses, it took several years to be able to feel confident enough to know I could do it without worrying about petering out, and there is not a lot of room for slacking during peak season.

In order to keep everything strong and alert and ready, I had to learn how to prioritize my own health first. That means not always staying out for the event parties and getting bed at a decent time. It means sometimes saying no to plans when there is much to restock. It means making time for your workout when you really want to do something else instead.

As one awesome teenager reminded me this weekend, if you feel like you want to beat yourself up about progress, it always helps to look back and see where you were vs. where you are now. I am beyond grateful for that wisdom ☀️🧡🦋

As I was walking from City Island early this morning, a gentle mist and rolling fog outlined the row of canopies and tents in the distance, and I thought to myself, I must've been part Nomad at some point. I love this so much, an entire city pops up, overnight then is gone within days. It's really something special to be a part of.

Getting to work right along the Mighty Susquehanna River, a place I spent a chunk of childhood, rowing along in a rusty old Jon Boat, lazily dangling a line out the back, is worth a thankful pause.

I am here again with for Harrisburg Artsfest from 10-7 today and 10-5 tomorrow in the middle row between Barbara and Pine. We would love to see you out 🧡

Hi, this weekend is Harrisburg Artsfest! I am here in an amazing space 219 between Barbara and Pine Street in the middle row with a beautiful view of the Susquehanna 🧡

The show goes from 10-7 today, and due to the dreary forecast, the first five people that come into the booth and spend $20.00 will receive a free gift! (Please mention this post).

Deer Lady is available for sale (see last photo from a different show) but is not on display until we get a little rain break, but feel free to ask about her!
