Elk Grove Historical Society The Elk Grove Historical Society's mission is to preserve, gather, and share the history of Elk Grove, California.

The society's goal is to educate the community about its history and pass it on to future generations. The Elk Grove Historical Society had its beginnings in 1962 when four local women came together with the thought of preserving our rich heritage. The Historical Society was established in 1976 as the Bicentennial Committee to save the Rhoads School. Once the school was moved to Elk Grove Regional Park, saved and restored, the Bicentennial Committee became the Elk Grove Historical Society.

“Indigenous Peoples of California’s Bay-Delta Region” Presented by Dave Stuart

Dave Stuart, an accomplished archeologist and anthropologist, will share insights into the Indigenous peoples of California’s Bay-Delta Region and draw from decades of experience working in museums, history, and cultural preservation throughout California.

Our Parlor Games Tea Party was an incredible success, and we are so grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, dressed up, laughed, played games, and helped make the day so special. From the elegant attire and delicious tea to the lively games, silent auction, and beautiful memories shared together — it was a celebration we won’t soon forget!

Events like this are only possible because of the amazing support of our community, and we are beyond thankful for each and every person who helped bring the magic to life.

The gates are officially OPEN for the Rhoads School Living History Program Fundraiser!

Come out and support local history, local students, and a program that brings learning to life for children in our community. We’ll be here from 10AM–8PM accepting donations in person in the Summer Kitchen and online—and we are SO close to reaching our goal!

✨ Balloon animals for the kids
✨ Snacks available
✨ Community fun all day long
✨ A chance to help local students experience hands-on history

Every donation—big or small—helps make this program accessible for more children. Your support helps students step into a real one-room schoolhouse experience and create memories they’ll carry for years.

Stroll through the beautifully decorated museum and grounds, enjoy the parade of trees decorated by local organizations, and make memories to cherish for years to come.
