Motor Mill Historic Site Absolutely incredible, beautiful, and fascinating are only a few words our visitors have used to describe their visits to Motor Mill.
(1)

Come see for yourself the historic beauty and craftsmanship that the Mill is known for. Guided tours of historic Motor Mill are offered each Saturday (May 28-Sept 3, Sept 17, Oct 1, and Oct 8) from noon-5pm. These guided tours include the 1860's Mill, four related outbuildings, and the Motor town site. Tours have no cost but free will donations are encouraged and appreciated to help with various r

estoration projects. Tours range in time depending on your touring interests and desires. Volunteer opportunities are available for those interested in becoming involved directly with the Mill. We also offer a periodic newsletter entitled Milling Around. To subscribe to Milling Around or to become a volunteer call 563-245-1516, email [email protected], or simply Facebook message.

THANK YOU to Royal Products Outdoor Power in Elkader for coordinating bottle and can redemption donations to support Motor Mill!

Just as we were figuring out how to repair this spring’s wind damage to the roof, we received a generous check in the mail that will go directly toward the project.

We are very grateful to Royal Products — and to everyone who donated cans and bottles — for their continued support of Motor Mill and our community.

Our volunteers and visitors thank you for supporting local history and preservation!

Motor Mill tour guide volunteers kicked off the season with an orientation led by historian David Beck. Thank you, David, for a great start!

The group also got a first look at the new bolter (flour sifter) model, designed and built by Joe Miller—an exciting addition to the site.

Interested in volunteering as a Motor Mill tour guide/docent? No experience needed—just an interest in the historic site and a friendly attitude.
