We would like to thank everyone for the wonderful support shown regarding the theft from our site Sun, 7/26/26 between 12:53pm & 1:19pm.

A generous supporter has offered a $1000 donation toward information leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for removing the US cavalry jacket from our site.

The jacket can also be returned no questions asked to the Chemung County Historical Society.

It is with regret, we need to share that over this past weekend, someone saw fit to remove & take one of our interpretive displays.

The loss of this jacket saddens us for several reasons. It not only deprives visitors of an educational opportunity, it also creates the need for unnecessary expenditures to replace it.

More importantly, the jacket was made & donated by one of our volunteers who has since passed away. The display represented an opportunity to keep this individual's memory & love of history alive for a very long time.

We would ask the responsible party to return the jacket, no questions asked to the Chemung County Historical Society.

It's a great weekend to get outside! Our weekend has started. The site on Winsor Ave is open for business all day. Come on down & visit with the reenactors.

Don't forget the Open House Sunday afternoon. The new building will be open for you to see our progress.

time. This talk will examine the various ways the prisoners filled their time as they
looked forward to the day they could go home.
