Today's design reminder: one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive space is by paying attention to tone rather than theme.

A warm wood frame paired with warm wood floors, or artwork with cooler tones in a room that already leans cool, can instantly make a space feel more intentional.

Nothing has to match perfectly. Wood grains don't need to be identical, and neither do the colors throughout your room. Simply deciding whether your space feels predominantly warm or cool is a great place to start.

And don't be afraid to mix in the opposite tone here and there. A little contrast often adds the interest that makes a room feel complete.

I'll be out and about next Saturday, September 12th, at Art in the Park in West Park in Allentown, PA from 10 AM to 5 PM. I'll be in space 620, directly across from the Masonic Temple.

Come celebrate the 51st Art In The Park in West Park at 16th and W Turner streets, Allentown, PA.

Established in 1971, AITP is one of the Lehigh Valley's premier cultural touchstones. It celebrates the work of artists from Lehigh Valley and beyond in Allentown’s oldest park. Dozens of artists will exhibit and sell original paintings, ceramics, drawings, glass, jewelry, photography, sculpture, weaving, and art made from recycled or re-purposed materials. Organized by the West Park Civic Association. Admission is always free.

Art of the Woman Fine Art Gallery and Gifts will be closed for the day, but we'll reopen on Sunday, September 13th at 9 AM! See you then.

We are thrilled to welcome Dawn Scherr, fiber and textile artist and vintage material recycler, to the Art of the Woman family of artists! ✨

Creativity comes naturally to Dawn. For 30 years, she used her talents as a hairstylist to create beautiful new looks. Along the way, traveling across the U.S. and abroad, she gathered inspiration and skills from artists she met. Nicknamed “Auntie Do” by her nieces and nephews, Dawn learned to crochet, sew, and knit from her mother.

Today, she combines those skills with her love of vintage materials, finding beauty and purpose in everything from rag rug fibers and silk ties to beads and old sewing supplies. She weaves ribbons and rayon seam binding into beautiful, snazzy scarves and repurposes scraps into unique works of wearable art.

Please help us give Dawn a warm welcome! We can’t wait for you to discover her wonderful creations. 💛

Megan will be offering 1-on-1 Cards & Conversations throughout the weekend. These private, half-hour sessions are just $20 and offer a chance for some personal insight and conversation through the cards.

Curious about tarot but not quite ready for a private reading? Join Megan for her Cards & Conversations Demo on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 PM. Ever wondered what all the magic is about? Come learn a little more about reading the cards in these fun, interactive half-hour group sessions — just $10 per person!
