Red Rocks State Historic Site The home of the William Allen White family in Emporia. Red Rocks is the home of famed author and newspaperman William Allen White and his family.

Owner and publisher of the Emporia Gazette, William Allen White was a confidant, friend, and advisor to 5 U.S. Presidents who came to visit him at Red Rocks. The Gazette is still being run by the 4th generation of White's. William Allen ran for Governor of Kansas in 1932 on a third party ticket but was defeated.

Six of our seasonal state historic sites are opening today! First Territorial Capitol, Grinter Place, Pawnee Indian Museum, Red Rocks, Mine Creek Civil War Battlefield, and Cottonwood Ranch are ready to welcome visitors.
