NEXT WEEK! Join us for the first concert of our 2026 FREE summer concert series on Wednesday nights at our Stone Machine Shop! This summer we have a line up including Upper Valley Community Band, Twangtown Paramours (Mike T Lewis), , Never Too Late, and The Ferns

No outside alcohol allowed, and make sure to bring your own blanket and chairs! If weather is unwelcoming, the concert will be moved inside

Vending and food trucks start at 6, and the music starts at 7. We can't wait to see you there!

Did you know this week is National Pollinator Week? We love seeing pollinators hard at work in our Shaker Gardens! This week we will be posting a few pollinators who have been working this garden since the Shakers first made it!

This raspberry pyrausta moth is taking a break from spreading pollen on it's search for nectar on one of our many hollyhock plants

Happy Juneteenth! The Shakers believed in equality for all. While they were pacifists and did not fight during the Civil War, they stood up for equal rights when they could. In this quote from an 1845 Shaker journal entry from Pleasant Hill, Kentucky, the author writes of their Shaker village purchasing a man's freedom from enslavement:

"Jonah Crutcher (Coloured) deceased at the W.F. [West Family], of dyspepsia, being 44 years old the 2nd day of last April. He was a slave, and being hired by Believers, received faith in their testimony and confessed his sins on the 15 of October, 1839. As he continued to be a faithful Believer we continued to hire him, that he might have an opportunity of receiving spiritual instruction and obey his faith, till the 4th of January 1859, when it was apparent that he would be sold South and we purchased him that he might enjoy a privilege in the gospel on equal terms with the rest of us, which he did and continued faithful until the day of his decease. He was much respected and beloved in the family where he resided, which was not misplaced for he was worthy"

Comfrey taking over your garden? Sounds good to us! While comfrey can easily take over your gardens with it's deep roots, we here at the Enfield Shaker Museum love harvesting it so we can dry it out! Our dried comfrey gets used in an all-purpose salve that is sold in our gift shop!
