The Sunbeam was a staple for Ennis in its heyday. Who remembers riding this train?

In an era of rapid transit in Texas the Southern Pacific's advertisements cited the Sunbeam trains - modern streamliners - as the apex in luxury and speed between Dallas and Houston - an elapsed time of four hours and twenty-five minutes. This photo was taken in 1952 and is courtesy the Museum of the American Railroad, which is in Frisco, Texas. Please follow them here. The Ennis Railroad & Cultural Heritage Museum will close early on Friday, December 12th, but will reopen Saturday from 10am-4pm and Sunday from 1pm-4pm.

So many memories were made at tonight’s Open House! Thank you to everyone who stopped in, to Frosty for visiting, to H-E-B for sponsoring all our refreshments, to the staff and volunteers who set everything up, and especially to Mike & Sherry for creating an awesome model train layout that delighted everyone!
