Inspired by Essex’s rich maritime history, the EAA Summer Open show invites artists to explore not only the water and nautical traditions that shape our community, but also the many ways we journey through life: a voyage, a daydream, a rite of passage, an outlook, or a new path.

Entries (in person only): Monday, June 8, from 2–6 pm
Gallery Hours: Wednesdays–Sundays, 1–5 pm starting Friday, June 12
Opening Reception: Friday, June 19, from 6–8 pm (awards at 7 pm)
Pickup Unsold Art: Monday, July 6
ABOUT THE JUROR
Kerry Kincy is an artist, educator, consultant, and community leader whose work centers on the transformative power of the arts to build connection, healing, and social change. Kerry is the Founder and Director of CNTR, an arts, culture, and wellness center dedicated to cultivating shared cultural experiences and strengthening community connections through creative placemaking and free public programming. She is also a core faculty member with New Haven Ballet, where she leads the Shared Abilities Program, creating collaborative performance opportunities for dancers with and without disabilities. Recognized for her contributions to the arts and community engagement, Kerry was named a Connecticut Arts Hero in 2021 and continues to collaborate with organizations across education, healthcare, and public service to expand access to the arts. She is a passionate advocate for accessible and inclusive arts experiences, engagement in creative expression, and community-building through the arts. https://kerrykincy.com/
ABOUT THE GANTNER GALLERY FEATURED ARTIST
Rooted in the rhythm of nature, Andria Alex is a contemporary painter whose work moves fluidly and organically. Her paintings are about capturing a feeling, a moment, an emotional imprint. Her practice invites the viewer into an energetic and unique space.
