For years, we have watched the guardrails of our constitutional system bend under the weight of personal ambition and institutional neglect.

The presidency has been treated as a private enterprise. The Supreme Court has operated without enforceable ethical limits. And the public trust—the very foundation of our republic—has been eroded by loopholes large enough to swallow our founding principles.

This is not about partisanship. It is about architecture.

Drawing from the lessons of history, the failures of recent administrations, and the standard of public service, The Constitutional Renovation Project lays out a blueprint for repairing the presidency and restoring the integrity of our highest court.

We can not rebuild the architecture that failed us. We must build the one that serves us.

Read the full piece here, and consider some of the remedies as a pathway forward:

This is the work before us.

This is the renovation we must demand.

A Nation That Cuts Care — and Rewards Wealth — Is Not a Moral Nation

There is a cruelty in our national priorities that we can no longer ignore. At the very moment when families, elders, disabled Americans, and caregivers are stretched to their limits, we are watching proposals to slash the very safety nets that keep people alive — all while delivering massive tax cuts to the wealthiest two percent of our society.

This is not fiscal responsibility.
This is not shared sacrifice.
This is a moral failure.

And here is a truth too often left out of the conversation: disability can happen to anyone, at any time — through accident, illness, or circumstances entirely beyond their control. No one is immune. No family is exempt. The safety nets we weaken today are the very ones any of us may need tomorrow.

Caregiving systems do not collapse because people stop caring. They collapse because budgets are written by those who will never need the services they are cutting. They collapse because the labor of women, disabled people, and low‑income families is treated as expendable. They collapse because the people making decisions are insulated from the consequences.

When we cut Medicaid waivers, we are not trimming fat — we are cutting into bone.
When we underpay caregivers, we are not saving money — we are guaranteeing turnover and crisis.
When we reduce community supports, we are not encouraging independence — we are manufacturing isolation.

And when we hand billions in tax breaks to the wealthiest households while telling caregivers to “do more with less,” we are revealing exactly whose lives are valued and whose labor is taken for granted.

This is why I wrote the essay that follows.
Because caregiving is not charity. It is infrastructure.
Because dignity is not optional. It is a human right.
Because the people who hold our communities together deserve more than gratitude — they deserve investment.

The Guardrails Have Failed

This is a moment when the country needs more than commentary — it needs clarity, memory, and resolve. I’ve gathered the facts, the constitutional grounding, and the lessons of history into one piece about what must come next.

If you’re feeling the weight of this moment, you’re not alone. There is a path forward, and it begins with understanding the tools we still have and the renovation we must demand.

The Long Arc of Repair and Restoration - Part 3

This is my final chapter in the Amendment 25 trilogy as it turns to the long arc — the multi-generational labor of repair and restoration. It’s not theoretical. It’s lived. And it’s the work my husband and I came to understand through years of service in rural New Mexico. I never expected to write this chapter, but I offer these experiences in the hope that they help others understand what we’re now facing as a society. This piece is part of a larger archive I’m building — one that honors truth, courage, and the quiet labor of democratic renewal.

Part 3 can not be rushed. It speaks to the slow, steady work of repair — the kind of labor we learned through caregiving, civic service, and community building. It is the final installment in the Amendment 25 trilogy and the beginning of the long arc.

My next related piece will explore the other constitutional mechanism our nation must understand: Article II, Section 4. Given all that’s unfolding, it may be the remedy we are called to bring to fruition. It's important to understand that even after the removal of dangerous leadership, we will still have work to do.

Until the next, please read and share. Be safe and stay healthy. In solidarity, to peace, compassion, and love for one another, ✌️ ❤️ Margarita

Please use your platform to push Jeffries and Schumer to halt the money. Make the calls, please.

We must abolish ICE - (202) 224-3121

As a first step, we must demand a pause in the operations of ICE by halting ICE funding. We must call our respective Senators and urge them to press Schumer to suspend ICE funding and begin impeachment proceedings on Noem. Congress and the Senate can create a pause — but only if the public demands it.

Here are the Congressional and Senate switchboard numbers to begin making those calls:

U.S. Capitol Switchboard operator to call your U.S. Senator office: ( 202) 224-3121
You'll need to provide your STATE.
Or
U.S. House of Representatives
Phone: 202-224-3121, you'll need to provide your ZIP CODE.

Funding is half the problem — and public pressure is the other half.

The Constitution sets its tools upon the table, plain and spare. But the work of shaping a nation has always lived in our hands.

This essay looks at the 25th Amendment in its true form—unembellished, unsoftened—and then turns toward the quieter terrain that follows any shift in power: the place where fear meets duty, and duty asks for courage.

One panel names the mechanism. The other names the mercy. Between them lies the space where a country chooses who it intends to be.

And so the question rises, steady and unhurried: If the door opens, will we carry the light forward?

When families can not afford adequate, nutritious food, they are forced into systemic choices that guarantee long, torturous health outcomes. This is death on the installment plan.

The establishment, which worships unhinged, callous driven capitalism, knows this. They participate in the active orchestration of despair by ensuring the cost of dignity is always slightly higher than the resources provided. By defining the rules in their favor, they create a system where the populace is constantly sick, constantly struggling, and constantly demoralized into resignation and acceptance as the servant class.

Have A Wonderful Day, Mamas!

Recently, so many of my friends wished me a happy birthday..... thanks so much! Life has gotten hectic, and sometimes scary, but let's all try to keep a healthy balance in our lives, give our babies and the Mama's in our lives the love they deserve. And let us all pray for mercy and kindness for those without.
